Description :
Stop-motion short films and critical thinking: International Film Festival for youth REEL 2 REAL!
This activity is dear to my heart, as I studied films, and I love sharing my passion with my students.
Every year in Vancouver, I register my class to the Reel 2 Real Festival, so they can have access to a selection of short films for youth, made in Canada.
I first teach them the principal of cinema, and how it is connected to science and Photography. Then, I have them make short films themselves (HUE Studio Camera), and I take them to the festival, where they can watch the film program. They have small booklets to help them look at short films with a critical eye, and build their criteria of appreciation.
You can find a detailed sample of an Analysis Booklet here.
